Data Entry Outsourcing Services

Data entry involves transcribing some form of data into another form, usually in a computer program.

This is often data from another spreadsheet, or other documents that contain number sequences, letters and symbols, or basic data like names, addresses and telephone numbers. Some people do data entry alone, while others perform some data entry along with programming activities.

Data entry jobs are outsourced on the Internet

While the U.S. government predicts that overall, data entry jobs will decline between now and the year 2014, there are also indications that more of these positions will be done through outsourcing by companies during this period. The government also says that the decline notwithstanding, many new jobs will still be created due to people who will transfer to other positions and those that will leave or retire during the same period. In general, this is good news for job seekers and particularly for those who wish to freelance their data entry services to companies worldwide that no longer want data entry workers on staff for economic reasons. It happened exactly this way for hundreds of people who were employed in companies as word processors and are now freelancing their talents to Internet employers.

Data entry jobs require accuracy and independent judgment

Data entry is a job that is not forgiving of errors and mistakes, so accuracy and detail orientation are necessary. Since a significant amount of the data entered is payroll, medical or accounting related, even small errors or an incorrect entry can result in serious mistakes when a computer program is run. Therefore employers, whether they are within business organizations or outsource buyers, look for individuals who are responsible and take their jobs very seriously. Data entry personnel are also expected to transcribe information quickly.

Beware of “scam” offers, which are numerous

For some reason, unscrupulous people have chosen the data entry field as fertile ground in which to perpetrate their criminal activities and both the federal government and the Better Business Bureau are constantly issuing alerts about this. These scammers offer data entry work is you pay a fee. With legitimate offers, no fee is ordinarily required up front. As you might expect, the scammers collect your money and either disappear or send you almost useless old lists of potential employers, many of whom are no longer in business or have no current needs. There are scams on the Internet as well, but most of the Internet employers and outsource buyers are quite legitimate. On the bottom line, if they want your money up front, say goodbye as quickly as you can.
